FoCoMX & The Taste

If you happened to catch the previous blog, there was a great deal of focus on getting outside, taking advantage of the sunny spring weather but now it is time to bring it on in, back to town, and back inside because the second half of April brings with it two of our favorite local events. Both events, The Taste and FoCoMX aim to showcase the rich talent our small city has to offer, whether it be food, drink, or musical artists and acts.

The Taste is a one day event, April 16th, from 5-9pm, held at the Hilton Fort Collins. This event is a foodie must, The Taste offers visitors a unique opportunity to sample an abundant amount of local fare without having to visit each and every restaurant, brewery, and winery in the area. With over 30 local restaurants and 20 beverage providers in one place, offering their best and most delectable tasters, you can really get a feel for the richness and depth of quality Fort Collins food and beverage scene has to offer. This event is a benefit for the Larimer County Food Bank, 100% of ticket sales go directly to the Food Bank, providing much needed food to those in need. So you can have fun, let your taste buds run wild, and fill your belly while knowing you are also helping provide for the less fortunate families of Larimer County. “Celebrate the area's fabulous food and beverage culture while helping fight hunger in our community.”

The following weekend brings yet another chance to experience a wide array of Fort Collins magic in a short period of time. FoCoMX runs from April 24th-25th, beginning at 3:30pm on Friday afternoon, running until the bars close down Saturday night, 2am! FoCoMX has something for everyone; the line up on the website allows you to filter location, type, including a “Children’s Program” selection as well as an “Experimental-Noise-Visual” one, whatever that may be! It’s like SXSW but you can enjoy it as a family, a teen, a freshly 21 year old, or as a finer things in life adult, AND you don’t have to go to Texas! “2 nights, 20+ venues, 200+ bands”, FoCoMX was born right here in the heart of Old Town, created by a local group of musicians wanting to share the opulent, copious talent Fort Collins houses. In its seventh year, FoCoMX proudly gives local bands, artists, and DJs their chance to shine and wow audiences while providing the opportunity for music goers to take in an enormous amount of music with little time, effort, or funding! Wristbands are a mere $30 and that will allow you access to each and every event for both days! Can you say unbelievable bargain?! If you are looking for a frugal route to attend this event, volunteer and get a free wristband!

So book your rooms now because the hostel is almost full & these events are not to be missed!
